Art Of Board: The Journey from Broken Skateboard to Sustainable Interior Design

I loved my skateboard. It was my first taste of freedom. With it went that rollercoaster of emotions… The thrill of seeing someone do a new trick. The hair pulling frustration of trying to perfect it or improve on it. The adrenalin rush and euphoria when you achieved it!

I may look back on it, with slightly rose coloured glasses, now that the bruises and scratches are long healed but I haven’t lost my respect for the people still regularly skating. There was a wonderful camaraderie with the people I skated with. You were encouraged to not fear failure but to give it a go.

The Tranquillity of Blue

 

Maybe it is something about growing up by the sea but I have a thing for all shades of blue.

I love to sit on a beach, listen to the waves as they break and watch that point in the horizon where the sea and the sky meet. It is as if my mind, clears and my focus, sharpens…

Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. As a colour it is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquillity.   Continue reading

#Stripemania

 

When PR guru, Igor Josif and Holly Becker, Interior Designer and author of the inspiring book Decorate got talking about stripes, it was only a matter of time before their creative banter turned into something of a personal challenge. Could they host a virtual #Stripmania party on twitter?

 The concept is simple. You upload a picture of yourself, wearing stripes to your blog, website, flickr, twitpic etc and tweet the link to @IgorJosif and @decor8 with the hashtag #stripemania before Monday 13th June.
